"Gotta Loooove That Exchange Rate!"

Apparently, people in the Czech Republic make a lot of beer. This really isn't surprising, since, as our tour guide is currently telling us, this was the site of the first beer ever produced in the world (much to Germany's shame). Interesting side note on that, it seems that Budweiser was actually a Czech beer from a long way back, and the American version is, in fact, a rip-off of the original Czech brand - they even had to pay a massive settlement to the Czech company in order to still be able to use the name!

Anyways, we're on our way into Prague, and made a little stop just after the border crossing (which we miraculously made it through without even having to stop for a passport check, woo!). The little rest stop had all of its prices in Czech Crowns, which led to some confusion, as anytime you see a beer priced at "22.00", it seems a bit alarming ("Dear god, we're never going to get drunk if it costs that much!!!"). However, once we inquired around a bit, we realized that the exchange rate is actually really favorable from Euro-to-Crown or Dollar-to-Crown. I grabbed two beers, figuring they were probably priced pretty well, at 17 and 19 Crowns each...turns out it was a much better deal than I'd even thought, as this translates to about 0.9 Euros, or something like $1.40 each!! Woooo! Interestingly enough, this was actually a good deal cheaper than Coca Cola or Lipton Tea, with Becky's iced tea costing nearly as much as both beers combined!
Victory.
So I guess what I'm saying is that it clearly just makes good economic sense to drink nothing but beer in Prague. Party time.
